The Gordon Arms Hotel, West Linton

The Gordon was a home from home for an afternoon. Two of our party were welcomed by Tommy to sit by the generous coal fire for a January afternoon, while the other three of us went for a hill walk above Carlops. Then all five of us were cared for solicitously in the restaurant. The restaurant was cold, especially compared to the cosy bar. But the welcome was warm and the food lovely. I'm grateful that the Gordon made it possible for all of us to go out together even though not all of us could manage a hillwalk

Had dinner here with a large group last Saturday night. We were given a private room and treated like kings and queens. The staff were amazingly organised and patient with us. The food was also amazing. The menu might've looked pretentious, but they really did make lovely hearty food with generous portions. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.

Lovely Sunday brunch. Full Scottish breakfasts all round. Good eggs (so important) and that bacon is delicious. Tasty haggis and breaded mushrooms (unusual!). Bit let down by the sausage. Dog friendly and a warm coal fire. Really friendly service and a good pub atmosphere. Splendid! Until next time...

I stayed at the Gordon Arms for 1 night at the beginning of October. Check-in was smooth and I was shown to my room personally. The room was large and had good views over the top of the village to the hills behind. The bed was massive and extremely comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. The room had a couple of items that could done with attention (such as the loose sloping shelf in the en-suite). However, there were no issues that spoilt the stay. Although a cooked breakfast was not included, breakfast bars were left in the room which was ideal for my needs. I did get an evening meal in the restaurant which was fantastic. The food was of a very high standard and the staff in restaurant were polite and attentive. Would definitely go back a meal again.

Dinner for three here and just superb. Excellent value for money and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended in every respect. As a Coeliac, there were 90% options which was great. Lovely hosts too - nothing too much trouble.

I only ate here but food was amazing Lovely local bar , dog friendly (very) . I was lucky the special of the day was Cullen Skink and it was the best I’ve had in a long time I ate here twice , the first time was the special of the day spatchcock chicken , delicious! (Photo) Haggis bonbons were super yum. I saw haggis pakora listed a few days before. Always a haggis special on the menu

The Gordon Arms Hotel is another traditional Scottish hotel with a fantastic pub. It’s a 17th century coaching inn that has everything you need in a pub: live music, Sky sport, pool tables, darts, a restaurant and plenty of beer on tap. The brick wall interior combined with fireplaces give this pub a cosy and inviting feel. It’s also one of the bigger country pubs I’ve been to in Scotland. You’ll find plenty of locals here as well!
